El Quby A. Campbell
a.k.a “Q” began studying privately the martial
arts in 1991 with the Okinawan Kyoto Karate Association in
Miami, Florida with Master James S. Lee. The following year
he attended the Tae Kwon Do and Kickboxing School of Martial
Arts, Florida under Grandmaster Ki Bong Lee. Q also studied
at Nisei Goyu Ryu, in Miami, Florida with Grand Master Herbie
Thompson in 1992. Two years later he furthered martial arts
studies at Aiki Jitsu-Doka under Grand Master Anthony Giordano.
In 1998 he ranked 2nd Dan in Tae Kwon Do at the Tae Kwon Do
and Kickboxing School of Martial Arts, in Pembroke, Florida.
In his journey for furthering his martial arts skills, in
2000, he found his warrior home at the Atemi Ryu Ju-Jitsu
School of Martial Arts in Florida. Here he studies various
martial arts systems under the instruction of Doctor Philip
Chenique, the creator and founder of Atemi Ryu Ju-jitsu and
Chendokan Aikido. He advanced his rank to Shodan in Chendokan
Aikido in 2005 and nine months later a Shodan in Arnis Jitsu,
instructed by Doctor Phillip Chenique and Antione Forcand.
He currently teaches Arnis Jitsu evening classes at the Atemi
Ryu Ju-Jitsu Dojo, Sterling, Florida location.
Q’s primary influences
have been all aspects of the martial arts including the mental,
spiritual, and physical training as a practitioner of various
arts over the years, incorporating different styles from close
quarter combat to weapons training, boxing, and anti-grappling.
He has also been honored to have met the legendary Grandmaster
Moses Powell, as well as study from one of his highest ranked
students, Doctor Philip Chenique. He also was privileged to
meet other great martial artists like Benny the Jet, through
the sponsorship of Atemi Ryu Ju-Jitsu, Florida seminars.
Q is a career Licensed Massage
Therapist since 1997. He has great appreciation for martial
and other arts, science, astronomy and music. He has a loving
family, his supportive wife Alma and son Xavier, whom also
studies martial arts and trains along his father since the
age of 7 at Atemi Ryu Ju-Jitsu in Hialeah, Florida.
